well hullo. Warning, @quietcountrymouse, I started the first bit, and then came back later. So this is the shittiness that I get when I write at almost 2:00 in the morning...

Arizona sighed. "I did, I guess." She turned to look at him, wondering if he would make her elaborate. Ryder looked her in the eyes, brown to green. "I see." Arizona looked out to the sea again, and Ryder squeezed her hand. Their snack cakes lay untouched next to them as the sky darkened and the wind blew.
As the rain began to fall, Ryder pulled Arizona to her feet. They stood on the beach together, so close Ryder could have counted her freckles. Arizona closed her eyes, the air smelled of sea and rain. When she opened them, Ryder was watching her, standing close, still holding her hand She felt like he was going to kiss her. She was certain. But something in Ryder's eyes changed, and he pulled back. "C'mon." He stooped to get their things, then tugged her up the sandy hill. "We should get you home, huh?" Arizona turned back one last time, in her again wet clothes, glancing back out to the horizon.
Luckily her mother wasn't home, Arizona thought. She would have gotten some strange looks, coming home in sandy clothing with a tousled boy. The boy in question looked a little uncomfortable, so Arizona, laughing, directed Ryder to the upstairs shower. While he was gone she did the same, changing into sweats. There were footsteps in the hallway, so she turned, her breath catching in her throat.
"Hey." Ryder smirked. It was funny how awkward she was. He ran his hand through his wet hair. "Do you have anything for me to wear? I mean, I'm fine the way I am," Ryder gestured to his towel-clad body, "and so are you, even though you hate to admit it," Arizona rolled her eyes at that. "Actually, I think I'll just stick to this." He stepped closer to Arizona. Her heart beat faster, and she could see the beads of water on his skin.
Ryder felt a twinge of guilt, but he pushed it aside. He moved closer.
Arizona felt it again. Was he going to kiss her? She thought he would the first time, and she had been wrong. But now? Now Ryder had her backed up against the kitchen counter, his hands on either side if her hips. And then it happened. He leaned in, and pressed his lips to hers. He put a hand in her hair, at the back of her neck, and kissed her.
And then it was over. Ryder smirked, and walked away, down the hall.
An hour or so later, it was late, and Arizona was getting tired. She was curled up on the couch, Ryder across from her. She yawned, and he got up. Watching from under half closed eyelids, Arizona's sleep-deprived self barely noticed when Ryder lay next to her, wrapping an arm around her waist. Their legs were tangled together as she dozed off, her head on his chest.
